  • There are more than 3.9 million elders in Florida. The fastest growing segment of the population is the 100 and older age group.
  • In Florida, 13.07% of the elders are near or below poverty level.

  • In Hillsborough County, there are 178,350 seniors age 60 and older. They represent 16.2% of the total population.
  • Minorities are 23.17% of the 60 and older population.
  • 24,565 of the 60 and older population are near or below the poverty level (13.77% of the 60 and older population).
  • 30,387 of the 65 and older population are deficient in two or more activities of daily living.
